Linux Distributions

1 min read

A linux distribution contains the Linux kernel, init system, GNU software, maintenance and configuration utilities and more. Distributions differ in their initialization systems, package formats and tools, documentation availability and other factors.

Some are designed for specific tasks – like Ubuntu Studio which has all the software that artists/videographers/musicians will need or Kali which is loaded with hacking tools. Others are more general and work well on most computers – like Mint or Elementary OS.
